Damn Yankees Rally

Bailey & Milky at the rally
The Yankee Beemers hosts several rallies each year. My goal is to attend each one of them at some point. It has been a few years since I last went to the Damn Yankees Rally in Heath, MA so this year when they announced that dogs were welcome I signed up.

It was the first time I went to a motorcycle rally in a car but it is a bit hard to bring two dogs along on Blackie. Yeah, I know, I should have a bike with a side car so they can come with me...

I loaded up the car and drove down to Heath. Not a very long drive. It was a beautiful Friday evening and I set up camp. Bailey and Milky quickly made friends and put a smile on many faces.  It was nice to see some club members I had not seen in awhile. There was pizza and music by Dana that night.

Cookie plays "Kick the Kid"
Saturday morning had rally goers lined up for either the guided GS Tour with Doug Mo or the leisurely ride with Dana. The girls and I were going to "hold down the fort" by manning the registration table. We had a nice time chatting with fellow club members, visitors and rally goers. After our registration shift we went for a ride down to the river so the girls could go for a swim and cool off.

Mid afternoon it was time for the Scottish Trials and the Field Events. All of which are Damn Yankee Rally classics. In the field events they had the slow race, toss the can and kick the kid. Don't ask me who came up with these games but it is fun to watch. In the Scottish Trials bikes are ridden on a obstacle course that includes a teeter tot, a tight circle, a tight square, a 2x4 plank and a jump. There were some interesting choices and a few falls.

The famous Chicken BBQ by the Heath FD
When all the fun was over it was time for the legendary Chicken BBQ put on by the Heath volunteer fire fighter squad. The meal is humongous - enough to feed a family! Luckily I had the girls and they got all of my left over chicken. I didn't hear a single complaint from them. Another gorgeous evening was enjoyed until the sun went down and the Rock the Silo band was a big hit.

The girls and I enjoyed the Damn Yankees Rally this year and will be back.
