A ride of respect and tribute

On Sunday October 13, 2013, John Ryan was killed in a motorcycle accident in New Jersey. I did not get the chance to know him in person. Only met him once at a motorcycle rally. He was a well known name in the long distance riding community and motorcycle circles (is there such a thing as motorcycle circles for serious riders?).

John was respected by many. He was a good friend and person. Type 1 diabetic who volunteered at Camp Nejeda in New Jersey and raised money. He rode to the beat of his motorcycle and followed his own path.

The funeral was held on Friday October 18 in New Jersey. It was attended by many who wanted to pay their respect. I could not make it so I decided to go for a ride and pay respect and tribute to a man that was and will continue to inspire.

I wrote a poem and took this photo.

I rode for a man I did not get to know. My soul needed peace and my mind said to go. I pictured him riding there next to me. Focused, happy and forever so free. The skies were dark and the shadows were playing. The sun came out and it was as if it was saying: Do what you love and love what you do. I'm certain this man was to this mindset true. I thought of those who lost a son, a brother, an uncle or a friend. I silently prayed their aching hearts will mend. I wish they will get a peaceful mind knowing this man is a legend and one of a kind. He now rides with Ardys and so many more. The ride will go on, of that I am sure. I rode for this man to pay respect and tribute. He will continue to inspire and be someone we riders will always salute.

Ride In Peace John Ryan. Today I rode for you.
